Active Projects

We NEED your help!

SORBA is involved in several active trail maintenance and building projects. Here are some of the ones you can get involved in.

Jennings State forest is a trail system that has been in the proposal, planning, design stages for several years. The initial 13 miles has been flagged, and is ready to build. We are in a fundraising mode now and looking forward to getting started on the build in the 2023 year. This trail requires approximately $300k-$500k for completion.

Jennings State Forest

On behalf of the Florida Forest Service (FFS) Jacksonville Division Office, Community Trail Design, LLC (CTD) was contracted in March of 2020 to serve as a design consultant for the development of off-road cycling and mountain bike trails within Jennings State Forest in Northeast Florida. Through both verbal and written communication, the FFS has expressed interest and community support for developing a moderate-sized trail network that would enhance the local off-road cycling opportunities in the region. By doing so, the agency seeks to create a facility that will expand recreation opportunities in the Forest, boost local recreation tourism, and serve a large, growing metropolitan population nearby while simultaneously showcasing the natural environment sustainably.

TREK Trails at Aterro Park

SORBA Jax is excited to announce that the trails at Aterro Park are open on weekends for you to begin riding. This is the beginning of many more miles of professionally built trails with excellent features to include bridges, rock gardens, berms, flow sections, technical climbs, drops, and yes even some jumps. We have been approved and currently waiting funding from the TREK Foundation so that we continue the amazing project that is attracting lots of attention in northeast Florida.

This trail is currently open with limited trail mileage on weekends only.
